Preposition এর পর gerund বসে। In fear of being arrested, He escaped elsewhere বাক্যটির অর্থ গ্রেফতার হবার ভয়ে সে অন্য কোথাও পালিয়ে গেছে। গ্রেফতার তো সে নিজে নিজেকে করবে না, তাকে অন্য কাউকে দ্বারা গ্রেফতার করাতে হবে। তাই এখানে Passive gerund form হবে।

I didn't follow who passed by me বাক্যটির অর্থ আমার পাশ দিয়ে কে গেল তা লক্ষ করিনি। অর্থাৎ বাক্যটিতে সম্ভাবনার কথা বোঝানো হয়েছে। তাই might be (হতে পারে) হবে। It might be Shajib (সম্ভবত সজিব)।

বাক্যটিতে for থাকায় Present perfect অথবা, Present perfect continuous tense হয়। তবে know verb continuous sense এ বসে না। তাই শুদ্ধ উত্তর: Samin is my colleague. I have known him for ten years. (শামীম আমার সহকর্মী। তাকে আমি ১০ বছর ধরে জানি।)

রাস্তার অন্য পাশ বোঝাতে preposition হিসেবে across বসে। শুদ্ধ বাক্য: There is a coffee shop across the street. (রাস্তার অপর পার্শ্বে একটা কফি শপ আছে)।

Principal Clause যদি Present Tense অথবা Future Tense হয় তাহলে, Sub-ordinate Clause একই Tense এ হবে।

Passive voice (was darkened) + by + noun phrase.

3^rd Conditional অনুসারে, Had + subject + V₃ + object, Subject + would/could/might + have + V₃ + object. সঠিক উত্তর: Had you been there on time, you could have had the information.

যে সকল শব্দ সাধারণত noun বা pronoun এর সামনে বসে noun বা pronoun এর সাথে sentence এর অন্যান্য শব্দের সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে তাদেরকে preposition বলা হয়। প্রথম অপশনে like শব্দটি বসেছে verb হিসেবে। অপশন 'গ' তে like শব্দটি Preposition হিসেবে বসে noun (a cat) এর সাথে অন্যান্য অংশের সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করেছে।

যে word noun বা pronoun এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে তাকে preposition বলে। Present and participle যখন preposition এর কাজ করে তখন তাকে participle preposition বলে। এখানে 'following' শব্দটি 'The incident' noun এর পূর্বে বসে তা sentence এর বাকি অংশের সাথে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করেছে। সুতরাং 'following' এখানে participle preposition.

Gerund বা Infinitive phrase যদি কোন verb এর subject/object হয় তবে সেট noun phrase হয়। যেমন: To win a prize is my ambition. Writing a diary is a very good practice to develop the writing skill. চেনার আরও কিছু উপায়: 

Being + Past Participle. যেমন- Being helped by the killer whales, the whales were able to make a successful kill. সঠিক উত্তর: Being injured, he lay on the ground groaning, তবে Passive voice এ Being উহ্য রাখা যায়। তাই গ্রহণযোগ্য অপশন 'ক'।

By and large অর্থ মোট কথা, সামগ্রিকভাবে, on the whole. সুতরাং শুদ্ধ উত্তর হবে: অপশন 'খ'। এছাড়াও By and large অধিকাংশ বা mostly অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Went back on অর্থ to fail to keep a promise, or to change a decision or agreement. অর্থাৎ প্রতিশ্রতি রক্ষা না করা অর্থে প্রশ্নোক্ত Went back on কে withdrew (প্রত্যাহার করা) দ্বারা প্রতিস্থাপিত করা যায়।

Let the cat out of the bag অর্থ গোপন কথা বলে ফেলা; হাটে হাঁড়ি ভাঙা, কোন গুপ্ত বিষয় প্রকাশ করা, to tell the secret, reveal a secret carelessly। সুতরাং Let the cat out of the bag means- reveal a secret carelessly.

যে phrase- noun কে modify করে। যথা: The tree in front of my house has been cut down. এই Phrase ছাড়াও বাক্যের অর্থ প্রকাশ পায়। যেমন: He is a man to depend on. এছাড়াও Phrase টিতে Adjective word থাকে। যথা: A man in great difficulties came to me for help.
